2008 NAS Oceana Twilight Air Show and Blue Angels : Hi-lights from the Friday night show Sept. 19 @ NAS Oceana in Virginia Beach,Va. The weather conditions played a key role in shooting the event. The clouds and setting sun made for an interesting backdrop. Cool temps were just right for shorts & sweatshirts, a welcome alternative to the recent heat-wave this time of year. Northeast winds had been gusting 15-25 mph the last few day, and this night was no exception. Officials cancelled the Red Devils parachute jump, and the Fireworks finale for safety reasons. The shots I have posted here are a departure from the usual Air-Show photos ,which normally depict a brightly lit subject against a blue sky. Each photo has it's own unique cropping and is best viewed in a large format. If you see a photo that you wish to purchase , I can re-crop it in a standard size. 9/21- I shot the Blue Angels show from the Sky Bar atop the Hilton on 31st St. Thank you to the management for allowing access! Military Aviation Museum : Located in Pungo, Virginia, the museum featured a flight demonstration of the P-51 Mustang, guest speaker, and tour of the facilities. The Mustang is an impressive machine both on the ground and in flight, with a long history of success during WWII. KW shot the Mustang, while Jeff Stewart did the interior shots. Taken 10/7/08
